[Pranks] A Few Jokes (Part 1)

Jokes are a product of human wisdom, and telling jokes is a skill that AI cannot replace for the time being. Below are a few academic jokes, purely for entertainment; please do not take them personally.

I.

A professor was invited to write a review article titled “A Review: Comrade G’s Academic Career,” which was to be published in a top academic journal. The article provided a comprehensive and detailed account of the field’s development over the past century. An editor of the journal wrote to the professor, asking, “It’s very well written, but where is Comrade G’s work?” The professor replied, “Comrade G is the corresponding author of this article.”

II.

The Physics Department held a year-end meeting, which required the dean and the year-head to attend. During his speech, the dean noticed that the F-year year-head was not concentrating and remarked that everyone should take care of their health, as dementia and other illnesses are common among professors. The year-head replied, “I disagree with the dean’s point of view. I believe the biggest problem among professors is their lack of discipline. Look, we’ve been going on for quite a while now, and the F-year year-head still hasn’t arrived.”

III.

A professor attended an academic dinner. During the meal, a colleague came to toast him, praising a recently published article as a model of innovative research in the field. The professor was delighted and turned to his student, saying, “What article is he talking about? Send it to me so I can read it too.”

IV.

One day, at the professor’s request, a research group held its routine meeting. The students focused on two main issues: how to measure the scattering matrix and how to do a good presentation. Since no one present knew what a scattering matrix was, they had to proceed directly to the second issue.

V.

“Why didn’t you submit last week’s research report?”

“I’m too busy, I don’t have time.”

“Then why not use AI? Our team just subscribed to Claude, didn’t we?”

“Of course, I’ve tried it.”

“Great, did it generate it for you?”

“It asked me if I was Chinese.”
